Pet Anxiety – Is It Just Me?
Pet Anxiety – A Personal Reflection
As the title says, I think I am suffering from pet anxiety. I have a 2 yr old Shih Tzu mix who has been with us for a year now.. and he has changed our life in ways I can’t even begin to explain. However, I am constantly wrecked with anxiety about him and his well being. Worried that he will run away during a walk (always on leash), worried that he will get eaten by a bigger predator (though he’s an indoor dog), worried that I will put him to bed and wake up the next day morning to find him dead in his house, randomly thinking he has fever and so on..
To be fully transparent, I have been dealing with anxiety issues and am undergoing treatment but this feels different. This feels much more real and much more devastating. There have been nights that I haven’t been able to sleep worrying about him – like right now..
Is this just me or do others have such fears too? How do you deal with this? How do I sleep at night? I just want to hold him close to me and never let go.
Am I Alone?
